Back in Taipei

Nach 2.5 Wochen reisen bei bestem Wetter in Taiwan, wollten wir Taipei eine 2. Chance geben. Am Morgen fuhren wir mit dem Bus zum Nationalpark Yangmingshan. Anfangs hatten wir noch Sonne mit ein paar Wolken. Als wir im Touristenzentrum von Yangmingshan ankamen, regnete es leicht. Aber als wir auf dem Qixing Berg ankamen, stürmte es! Und zwar so richtig, es windete so stark, dass es uns fast vom Gipfel wehte! Im Eiltempo liefen wir runter zur Busstation von Lengshuiken um zur MRT Station Shilin zu kommen. Unten angekommen mussten wir uns zuerst trockene Kleider besorgen! Zum Aufwärmen entspannten wir uns im Millennium Hot Spring in Xinbeihou. Danach erkundeten wir ‘’the old Street’’ in Tamsui. Es war wunderschön und gab super Essen.

Da wir beim 1. Besuch in Taipei nicht alles sehen konnten, besichtigten wir am nächsten Tag die Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, das National Theater und die National Concert Hall. Alle drei Gebäude standen auf einem Platz und waren sehr beeindruckend. Wir hatten sogar schönes Wetter! Zum späten Mittagessen trafen wir Paul von Hualien in der Nähe der MRT StationNanjing Fuxing zum Hot Pot essen. Hot Pot ist etwas Tolles! 😊 Es erinnerte uns an ein Fondue Chinoise mit viel Gemüse. Nach einer ‘’emotionalen’’ Verabschiedung von Paul, liefen wir zum Verdauen zum nahe gelegenen Elephant Mountain. Die Aussicht auf Taipei und vor allem auf das Gebäude «Taipei 101» war super, trotz den vielen Touristen. Auf dem Rückweg zur Neihu MRT Station liefen wir durch einen tollen und lokalen Früchte- und Gemüsemarkt. Zum Abendessen trafen wir Ying-Hsuan und Ben in einem Restaurant mit typischen Hong Kong Spezialitäten.

Unsere letzten paar Stunden in Taipei verbrachten wir mit einer kleinen Wanderung zum Berg Zhongyang zusammen mit unseren Gastgebern. Oben angekommen besichtigten wir den Bishan Tempel. Die Aussicht auf Taipei von diesem Tempel war noch schöner als die vom Elephant Mountain. Nach Kaffee und interessanten Gesprächen, nahmen wir den Flug vom Shongshang Flughafen nach Chengdu, China.

After 2.5 weeks travelling in Taiwan with very sunny weather, we want to give Taipei a second chance. In the morning, we took the bus to the National Park Yangmingshan, in the north of Taipei. At the beginning, the sun was shining, it had some clouds. When we arrived at the tourist information center, it starts to rain lightly. But when we reached the peak of Qixing Mountain, the rain was pouring down and there was a horrible wind. The storm up there was almost blowing us away. In a very fast tempo we walked down the hill to the bus station in Lengshuiken. Down in Shilin, Taipei, we had to buy some new and dry clothes. For warming up our bodies, we went to a very nice hot spring, the Millennium Hot Spring in Xinbeihou. After this relaxing time, we enjoyed delicious food in the old streets of Tamsui.

Because we haven’t finished our sightseeing tour at our first stop in Taipei, we continued, the next day. We went to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, the National Theater and the National Concert Hall. All these buildings are placed at the same location in a very nice area and are impressive to look at. We also had very nice and sunny weather, unbelievable!!! After this short sightseeing tour, we met Paul again, our host from Hualien, for eating a Hot Pot. The Hot pot was so delicious. We really enjoyed our time with Paul. We continued the sightseeing tour after our ‘’emotional’’ saying good-bye from Paul. We hiked up to the Elephant mountain and enjoyed the nice view to the building Taipei 101. On the way back home, we coincidentally walked in a beautiful vegetable and fruit market close to the MRT station Yongchun. For dinner, we met our hosts Ben and Ying-hsuan and we went to a cute restaurant for eating Hong Kong specialties.

Our last few hours in Taipei, we spend time with our hosts. We did a small hike to the Zhongyang mountain and visited the Bishan temple, just before it starts to rain again. From there we had a great view to almost the whole city of Taipei. This view was much better then the one from the elephant mountain the day before. After coffee and a very nice conversation, we had to go to the Airport Shongshan for our flight to Chengdu, China.
